Here's a good question. How can a load with an extreme spread of 70fps group sub 1" @ 550 yards I'll start from the beginning yesterday I did a ladder test at that distance and found my accuracy node so last night I loaded 9 rounds each of those charges 69.4 69.6 and 69.8 grains of Retumbo 180 Berger hybrid. the first load grouped under 4 inches not to bad the next was slightly better the last 69.8 was the one that was impressive the problem was every one had an extreme spread of 70 fps or more I don't get it. the rifle was a 7 Rem. Mag with a Bench Mark barrel

Bad chrono? I gave up on the chrono. Stick to the groups

This x 1000

I use the chrony to get approx speed for dope then shoot at distance to get vertical spread.

X2000. I do all my load development without a chrono looking for maximum accuracy. When I'm done I run a few through the chrony to build a basic range card to use for determining actual drop.

good to know I've been feeling the same way about the chrono. sub 1" @ 550 will make one hell of an Elk gun I just need to test that 180 hybrid on some kind of target for terminal results. I hear a lot of guy's are using it on Elk. I do have a load for 168 VLD hunting but no where near 1 inch @ 500

Thank Guys

So you have a 9 shot group less than 1" @ 550?

I suspect his measuring device isn't calibrated the same as our's.

It's sub 1 inch not moa the rifle is my long rang elk gun. I shoot 3 shot groups Because it's a hunting rifle. this rifle has always been sub moa. with 168 bergers it groups 2.5 -3 inches some times 4 inches if I'm not having a good day (to much caffeine) I too wish I could get 9 shots under an inch especially at that distance I would be breaking records.

I loaded up some yesterday and went out to the range and put out some clay pigeons at known distances. I used 3020 fps to set my dope. all ten pigeons were dead pigeons on the first shot.

I'm confused.
Is it sub 1" at 100 yards or sub 1" at 550 yards?

It seems to me like there is some doubt here as to my abilities with the sarcasm wow really. is it not possible for some one to shoot a group under 1 inch at 550 yards.

Here some back ground on my self.

Is there anywhere in any of my post that I said I doubted your abilities?
I asked for clarification. Also, I said that I suspect your measuring device wasn't calibrated the same as everyone else's when I meant mine. My suspicion was correct. Your device is better than mine and is tolerances are tighter.
It appears that you have taken asking for clarification as doubt of your abilities and then resorted to innuendo and insult.
I do agree with another poster however that you need to be shooting National matches.
Have a nice evening.
