My little model 11 does not like to eject empty brass since I converted it to 17 Remington from 223. While it was a 223 I never had a single issue.

I've checked every bike store and specialty hardware store within 30 miles of here and nobody carries a 9/64 ball bearing, and I can't justify spending 3 to 4 dollars for one plus shipping from anywhere online. Has anyone tried a 5/32 with any success? Is there any other tricks I can try that will help with the issue? The brass drops off the bolt about 1/2 way back 9 out of 10 times.

Thanks

If you haven't done it already, try polishing the extractor rails as well as the races it rides in. I use a TINY file and 400 emery, took care of most of my extraction issues.

The steel ball from a 1/4" lynch pin that you can get at most any hardware/tractor/farm ranch joint does the trick perfectly.
Just hacksaw the pin next to the ball, out it pops (I put tape around that part before cutting or it will fly away).

I have plenty........like 99 of them. I ordered mine from McMaster Carr and I had to buy 100......I think it was 5 or 6 bucks. PM me and I can send you a couple.

I wish I had seen this earlier, I just ordered 25 from McMaster and got hosed on shipping. The 5/32 ball from my local bike store wouldn't fit my axis bolt. My Blackout conversion is doing the same thing.

Have you tried to lengthen the bottom of the ejector notch slightly with a file? I couldn't find much information on fixes for the Blackout so I looked at the 6br and 30br since they're both short cases. I found the recommendation to allow the ejector to be slightly proud of the bolt head. I did that and, when the casing actually stays on the extractor, it ejects fine. I should get my oversize detents tomorrow to see if that helps.
