I'm torn between getting an Axis in .243 and rebarrel to .260 from Apache, or just purchase a trophy hunter in .260. It will be used for Texas game, deer and hogs, and I already have a .270 and .22-250. I don't have the opportunity to shoot past 150 yards right now but would like to have a gun able to given the opportunity.

Personally, I'd go for the Trophy Hunter.

+1. The trophy hunter is the way to go IMO. Better selection of aftermarket stocks and parts to upgrade. And all 3 of the Savage factory barrels in .260 I've owned have shot 0.5" to 0.95" 3 shot groups with hand loads.

Trophy Hunter it is. Has anyone had any luck finding 6.5mm bullets to hunt with? Seems like everyone is sold out.

I own both and the trophy hunter is far and away the better rifle. Enjoy it!
