accustock fit on a non accustock gun?

Bought a model 10P-Sr and it came without the accustock. Its going to be quite a while before I can afford a decent upgrade like I want but came across a nice maprat accustock from a model 10fcp-sr for quite cheap. Would this work on my 10p without modification?

IIRC the accustock uses a different recoil lug, also check your release style as I think most accustock guns are bottom release.

Isnt the accustock recoil lug bigger? So really all id have to do is just bed it in that area to properly seat the smaller recoil lug or just leave it alone as it should seat all the way back anyways?

I think the ccustock lug is shorter and wider. You may have to grind it down so it doesn't bottom out on the stock. Then may have to make relief cuts or grinds around the trigger area as boots was alluding to if yours is top bolt release. And do some filling around the front of the trigger guard.

Yup, foxx nailed it. If you can secure or locate a accu-stock type recoil lug, I would just pull your barrel and switch them out, but if not the open up the stock for the larger old style lug and be happy. And just dremel out some relief for the top/side mounted bolt release.

Hold on Boots. Dont dremel out the rail bedding that the lug sits in. Shorten the lug. You will see what to do when you get it. Grinding out the stock will destroy the a ccustock concept.

I also just pick up a 10 P-SR and purchased a accustock that I would like to use, I understand that the recoil lug can be replaced with a accustock recoil lug and make it fit. I have called around to my local gunsmiths and they seem to talk like this is a major job and want to charge around $100..... is this a big job?

Is just cutting down the lug on my rifle the quick and easy fix?




I called Savage and they were not very helpful only saying yes I can change the lugs but I will void my warr.

It's no big deal. Cut/grind the non accustock lug to match the depth of the accustock lug. or just order an accustock lug. If savage says you have to be a gunsmith, offer to email them a letter saying you will not hold them liable for anything.

I am sure it would void your warranty, but just about anything you do to it might do that. There's nothing you can do to hurt it though. I have never worried about warranty on a Savage. Unless it is new and the barrel won't shoot, there's nothing you need the warranty for, in my opinion.

Thanks for the reply to my question, I will make a tape template of the lug that is on my other rifle that came with a accustock and then place it on the larger lug and start cutting.

I will post my results............. I can really tell just by squeezing the barrel and stock that it more solid.

How did it perform at the range?

The first day out it was not good, then later that nite I found the scope rail was loose so out again I go the next day but this was with a new Primary Arms scope ( https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary_Arms_4_14X44_FFP_Scope_with_308_p/pa4-14xffp308.htm ) and had to dial it in and get used to it..... at the end of the day I was getting 1 to 1.5 in @ 100yrds and banging 10in steel @ 300 yrds. I am sure I can do better with more time AND I forgot this is with ZQI factory loads also.

I went out again today and I feel the stock change has helped the rifle........ very consistent.
