Bought a 110FP this weekend for the action...building another 308 hunter...it has a magnum bolt head...so I am shopping for a 473 bolt head...with all the questions about PTG QC of late is the PTG LA 473 Bolt Head good to go? Is there another alternative other than stock you would recommend?

Thanks

Seems like it's a 50 - 50 shot these days. I'd give em a call if they have it on the shelf I'd order it, if not go factory. From what I've read and understand if it's something they have to make is when you take a bigger chance. Hopefully they will figure out what ever it is going on there, I haven't been in the "game" long but it seems like they used to be the go to people. I have a bottom metal sitting on the shelf waiting on the call from Manners, I hope that it's close enough to get it to work.

If you are building a hunting rifle the Savage bolt head is great to use. If you want to build a target rifle then the PTG is the way to go. The PTG bolt head needs some stoning to take off the sharp corners. Both of mine were easy to install and work great.

They are worth every penny. They are also made in batches, not one or two at a time, so you may have to wait. The hardest ones to get are the magnum bolt heads, the standards are much easier to obtain in my experience.

If you go with PTG, Midway USA are usually in stock for $54 as compared $70 from PTG.

I used one in my 260 build and it was a drop in.
Did change the head space a bit.

Avoid PTG at all costs. Worst customer service on the planet. If you get lucky and get a fully functional complete product from them you lucked out.....if not - they don't care.
