Hi guys! Can anyone lead me to info as to how to dis-assemble a Savage bolt? Model 12VLP single shot. Action is brand new and don't want to booger it up. I only need to remove the bolt handle to polish it. All input appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

Thanx Mr. possum1! I just hate it when I take a new firearm apart and springs, pins and detent balls start flyin' all over. Nice piece of info for now and future! I've been following your post "head space" VERY interesting. what method did you settle on?

I've done two now, on the first one I went the go gauge with scotch tape route . Second one used a fired case with Scotch tape. Both are stock factory rifle's, 223rem and 243win., the 243 with the fired case is more accurate. Don't know if it's the spacing or the cartride. Both are very accurate though. The tech article's on the homepage go into a little more detail but you have to have a paid membership to access them, well worth the $12.

I posted that the 223 wasn't as accurate, but I've found out that it has to be very "clean" to be as accurate.
