It brings a tear to my eyes,

That caliber is my new if I could only have one gun.

I am convinced you would not even have to pull the trigger, they elk would pass out just looking at the gaping hole at they end of the barrel.

Dean

Is that pic taken from a negative, the bolt is on the wrong side. LOL
had I have known, I would have had the rifling going they other way.LOL

My pop thinks I'm a pansey cause first thing I replace is the butt plate. The one above was my first grind to fit. Not perfect but that 1 3/8" Kick ez is the best gun money spent imho!

Pop was an MP in the mid 60's carried a 45 earned an expert with and a marksman with M1a.

Shot those up as sighters this evening.
Seirra 400gr JSP over 88grs of Ramshot tac. Still a little hot but no mallet required this time very heavy bolt lift. I'm gonna have to get a chronograph to help get the various bullets loaded to their ideal velocity. In the case of these terminal velocity is probably 2150 and I'm launching them a little too fast yet. Its just so cool shooting the bullseye out with 1 round.

Not resizing necks on new brass just using a little batting to fill cases 100% to hold bullets up for a taper crimp. If there is a better way to get the same results I'm all ears.

Side note I'm single feeding and haven't attempted to work out the blind mag feeding yet.

I think I have to wax the cases on these hotter loads. Might help. I use lanolin on 7rm bullets to aid seating, seal, lube and polish the cases with the residual from seating.

I use "New Finish" on my cases in the tumbler, it comes in a orange bottle I find it helps a lot.

I think we need 500/375 tee shirts and hats. Promoting 50 cals that aren't black powder or milsurp limited.

Promote and expand the user base can only improve the cartridge.

Never did spec this out so here goes:

Rifle.is as posted a savage 110 Economy Lefty series k a model often referred to as less.desirable but I just love like it is classic hunter!

Rifle.is bedded from the lug back and barrels floating.

It has the old 3 screw trigger which I really like and haven't touched as far as trigger pull. No slamfire.worries here.

Besides the Dean/Jim Spec'd/ Built 20" 20tw barrel there is a SS barrel nut and SS SharpshooterSupply super sized recoil lug which was purchased through McGowan outlet. Well worth the minor inletting needed. The. Kick Eez pad as mentioned above gets me out to 14 1/4 give or take lop. The.black leather sling came with when bought.the rifle.from a younger guy who had inherited from his grampa. Wasn't his thing more of an.AR guy.

EGW 0.moa rail
Burris zee rings med
Vx3 2.5-8x36 like new used. My new favorite.Bush scope.

Getting.closer to some usable data but heats slowing me down.

Will get some numbers for.imr 4350 and.then see how 7828ssc.does.

With 4350 at 75gr bolt cycles smooth but had a streak of soot on one side. At 80gr the bolt was stiff and extraction was tough. Not the ideal powder but its always on the shelf and its recoil is very manageable. Even the 80grs but like.I said bring.a mallet.

I think 75gr is a minimum and max will probably be about 3 grs more. Am gonna.get a cheap chronograph in the morning and.log some numbers. Won't be 308 speeds I'm sure but plenty for the 400gr JSP

Be interesting to see where BTSniper got with H335 see thats available here.

I'll get back to tac eventually. But can't.get any right now and I'm down to a pound.n a 1/2 and want load some 223 rounds out of.that. At least thats the plan.

Pretty boring result. Loaded 2 rounds @ 77gr imr 4350 1 with filler 1 without.
Filler compressed gave 1480fps
Uncompressed 1445fps shooting a 400gr JSP it looks like 1550-1600 will be the best 4350 can offer. Will continue small batches and work up a little more. These were very easy recoil wise very pleasant to shoot.

350 gr (23 g) JHP (Jacketed Hollow Point) 1,975 ft/s (602 m/s) 3,031 ft·lbf (4,109 J)
400 gr (26 g) JHP (Platinum Tip Winchester) 1,800 ft/s (550 m/s) 2,877 ft·lbf (3,901 J)

Didn't get much farther my girls brought out their 308's for some target practice and I shot some 7rm ladder tests.

I did shoot the 500/375 a few times.
400gr JSP over 78.5 gr of imr4350 @1475 average.

400gr JSP over 83gr tac @2172 stiff extraction.

At least you're now above 500 S&W velocities. Somewhere between the 4350 and the tac is a sweet spot. I'd look at IMR4320, Varget, or even RL-15 if you can tolerate the temperature instability. I'm watching your progress to determine whether this will be my next build. I'd love to see a report of 2150-2200fps with smooth extraction, that's my trigger point. Good luck!
