I just got in a .223 Savage Target action with 4.4 screw spacing (action only). As expected the bolt is harder than I would like on a target rifle. Which kit do I need for this particular action, the one from Stockade or the one from SSS?

Stockade does excellent work- have dealt with them a few times and have always been very happy. That being said their bolt timing and trueing is done 100% from an accuracy standpoint, they don't claim a major decrease in bolt lift effort. If that is your primary concern SSS may be the way to go. Something else to consider is that actions tend to lighten up with use. My rblp pta smoothed up nicely after a few hundred rounds.

Go to the pacifictoolandgage .com and look at the kiff-lambeth adjustable bolt lift kit. When I install the stockade kit I machine 128 thousandth's off the bas screw to keep the same sping tension as it started with and it makes a vast difference from the stock bolt assembly.

Not trying to break on this build. If the stockade lift kit and shortening the bolt will ease the lift by 30% or so that would be all I need.
