Hey all, I have an older savage 110 in .270win. Thinking of re-barreling to 6.5 creedmore. I can't think of any reason not to. Can you? Should feed just fine and would give me more room if needed for shooting longer bullets I would think. And the bolt head should be the same.

Any reason you can think of I haven't?

Thanks

What are doing with it? And at what range? If hunting the 270 is really tough to beat. At 500 yards there is not much difference between the two. At 1000 the difference is not huge but the creed does have the advantage. If poking holes in paper then the cost of rebarreling may be worth it but the 270 with a high BC bullet like the 130 berger classic hunter is no sloutch.

I went from 270 to 6MM BR but this fall I will probably go back. The issue is the 6Br shilen target barrel weighs as much as the savage 110 270 from where it came. But the beauty of the barrel nut thing is the option of swapping at will.

Just wanting to try something different and the 6.5 creed interests me. I don't shoot enough to shoot lr yet.

Then by all means change it up. I understand the want and need to change it up. This is the beauty of the savage system.

I think it's a good idea for one reason. The Hornady target ammo is cheap and even if you reload it's nice to be able to get accurate rounds off the shelf. I went with .260 Rem and it tweaks my melon a little every time I see several boxes of 6.5Creed on the shelf at Cabelas and NO .260. But hey, I'm a handloader and that's what I signed up for.

I've rebarreled my 25-06 to Creedmoor. Works like a champ.

Should be a good easy conversion. I have a couple .270's and also a couple of Creedmoors. althought they seem close on paper, the Creedmoor has quite a bit less felt recoil for some reason. The Creedmoor is fun to shoot and easy to load for. If you don't like it, it's easy to go back, and the barrel will be easy to sell.
