Savage 110 in 222Rem

Guys,
When was the 222Rem chambered for in the 110 series rifles? Rifle serial number begins with E961xxx. Basic wooden stock, open sights ... pretty normal looking, except its in 222Rem.

It was made in 1988 but it was never offered in that caliber.

Does the barrel have a Savage Arms barrel address on it?

I'll have to check but believe so, I'm located in Australia, so possibly it was an export model to local distributors? Ruger has brought 222Rems here at various times, same with a few other makers.
