Just purchased an older Savage 110 long action. This has a slotted screw in the rear of bolt for dis-assembly. I was working the bolt and pulling trigger everything normal. Went to move safety and wouldn't budge. took the action out of stock and don't see anything wrong but not a lot to see where the safety is located. I haven't taken one of these apart but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

I know it is probably a minor fix for this but just curious.

The old triggers are pretty much the same as the Pre-ATs. Without removing the trigger itself, not the entire housing, its tough to see whats going on.

The first thing I'd do without taking it apart, try backing off (out) the rearmost screw, the safety engagement adjustment and see if the moves.

One difference on the older triggers is how the hinge pin is retained. Instead of "C" clips you'll see a set screw on the back side of the trigger. It a little hard to see in this pic, but its just below and to the right of the note "Key 3" on the backside of the trigger. Back it out a turn or two then the hinge pin and trigger can be removed to get at the safety.

After the trigger is out of the way you'll see this. A lot of times someone will pull a trigger apart and get the detent spring - cross pin back together wrong. It should be like this, the pin between the spring an safety bar.
