I am new to this and am wanting to build a 7mm STW using a factory small shank 7mm rem mag barrel that I have reamed out. I currently have a standard magnum pre accutrigger action but the opening for the mag box is only 3.5" long. What action would I need to get to use cartridges longer than 3.5" and that would take small shank barrels?

Ok that tells me that they make a mag box long enough but the ultra mag box will not fit on the action I have right now as the opening just is not long enough. So what action has a long enough cartridge opening that will take the longer mag box.

The STW, and H&H factory rifles would be a good start.

There are some old 300 RUM and I have an 7 STW action I was lucky to find that will work, but there like hens teeth to locate. Any 375 H&H action will work. Find any of these in a Savage and go to town.

Well sounds like it is just a matter of keeping my eyes open. Thanks for the info.

That's just too pretty to use for a donor. :-\

I missed it the first time but am watching for a relist. If I get it I promise not to bugger it as it is a beautiful piece!

Or you could just open up the action you have to take the longer magazine box, then it would simply involve finding the correct box, follower and baffle.
