Hi guys,
I just noticed that it looks as if the comp recoil lug I installed on one of my rifles is too tall...
if I set the barreled action in the stock (HS Precision) the lug is bottoming out in the stock
before my action does.. ! So when I tighten my action screws the front of my action isnt touching
the bed of my stock.. Has anyone ran into this? It looks as if I'm going to need to shave off some
of the material on my lug. Any ideas?

Yes I have.

You have three choices, shorten the lug, make the stock recess deeper or a some of both. In any case make sure when your done there is some clearance between the two. You don't want the lug bottoming out on or touching the bottom of the recess.

so when you bed the lug it shouldn't be 0 clearance on the bottom?

Exactly. Without it you'll always run the chance of the lug bottoming out before the action is firmly seated in the bedding.

I always put two or three layers of vinyl tape on the bottom of the lug regardless what action I'm bedding.

Ok what I did is filed off some of my lug and it came out great! Now the receiver fully beds. Time to bed my action.
