I got a .30-06 112BVSS around ten years ago. I wanted one of the .30-06 110FPs, but they'd already disappeared by then. I had a small gun store in Fremont, Ohio order the 112BVSS for me.
When I got it, it had a VERY short throat and wouldn't chamber anything much longer than an M-1 ball round. I had a gunsmith outside of Canton lengthen the throat so that I could use the 200gr. Sierra Matchkings which are the only bullets I use in the gun.
I had a rail for a handstop installed in the standard stock, which has more than enough meat for that purpose.
I have a 6-24 Bausch & Lomb Elite 6300 on it. Until last fall, I had a Medesha inclined rail on it, but I was planning to take it deer hunting in Missouri and the year before I passed on a shot at a deer that was too close. I'd have had to aim two feet under it and couldn't SEE two feet under in the brush. I just put regular hunting bases on it for the trip, then came down with the flu and ended up not going at all. :(
The gun is exquisitely accurate at 600 yards with the 200gr. MKs and IMR4350.
I currently don't have anywhere to shoot a rifle and no money to do it with. Some day, I hope to get back to rifle shooting at 600 and 1,000 yards.
