H322 for .223 ?

My posts may appear to be Redundant but you people started it. :( Thanks in advance. I went to find Lt-32 powder but nothing doing so I grabbed a can of H322 instead. I know,I need help ! :crazy::der:

I'm only going only by my reloading manuals, but H322 is listed for the .223. If you have it I'd use it. In these days of components being hard to find I'm branching out to powders I haven't used, but know to be in the proper burning range.
Never hurts to have a powder & loads worked up that'll do if you favorite isn't available.:cool:

Yes, I'm grabbing new powder to try, lots of fun. I'm wondering if it is a spin off of the old T-322 powder ?

Varget in most of my longer barreled 223's. H322 in my 20" rock river varmint.

I have used it, a pound goes a long way, Hodgdon has loads up to 80gr bullets.

Hey thanks for the responses.I haven't even began to start with the H322 yet. I want to pick up some lighter weight bullets to start with.I bought a can of Reloader 10X the day after and worked that up instead.23.5 gr of Reloader 10X with a 50 gr V Max is the sweet spot through my Axis . It is the Hornady manual max load listing but they appear to be very conservative.....

If you are so inclined, a 40gr Vmax with 28gr of 322 in a 12 twist 26" barrel will hit the 4000 fps mark, it is a little on the warm side nothing serious, I have run loads with 29gr, regardless that's 22-250 territory.

Just to add to that, if ever you are wondering how much energy is lost while fire forming, I had that same barrel rechambered to an AI version, and with the same load all I could muster was 3600 FPS, so a 10% loss while fire forming.

That is over max recommended so I would start at 26gr but you will be fine.

I still use my powder drop for 223 rounds, it is just to painful using the charge master, it flows like sand that is one of the reasons why I like it .

I'm planning on a .223 Ackley Improved and or possibly an additional 22-204 caliber next and thus my future reference notes. It is a given that you should work loads up, since there is no guarantee that you will yield the same results. Thank you .

He told me that it was either in 1974 or 1975 that he paid that price for them at Ed Harts gun supply which has been gone out of business many years ago. Now there is an auto parts store is where Harts use to be. I'm not sure I would or could hold onto a box of bullets for 40 years .....thinking my boss might have been a hoarder before they were labeled as such.
