My Newest Blind. Let's see your setups!

I finally got all the pieces to the puzzle last Thanksgiving and so I recruited the help of my Father and made a nice father/son project out of this.
Most of my favorite spots to sit, and where I would want to put a blind were either out in the more open terrain where I was prone to lots of wind making it too cold to sit for hours and hours, or it would be to close to a gateway or tractor trail to permanently place a constructed blind. So I can up with this.

This way I can move it wherever I want to be for that season, and with my little propane heater I stay nice and warm. I got it finished in 2 days and had it out in time for the seasons last year and it worked out great. We built this thing as solid as a brick outhouse, so I am hoping it will last a good long time for me and my sons to use as they get older. Still got a few spots to paint, forgot my ladder. Had to wait until this spring to paint the exposed wood due to the cold temps last fall.

Now lets see how y'all "blind" yourselves.

My big motivator was being able to take my oldest out a little sooner. He's almost 7 and I am not sure how well he would tolerate the cold before starting to do the "Dad, I'm cold lets go." speech on me. LOL. My twin boys will be 2 this fall and I have a few years before they will go, but it should still be there to last til at least they're in Jr. High I hope. Funny thing was, I called my Insurance agent and they actually had a policy type to cover it. I got it insured for 5k value against theft, falling trees, storms, and even termites for less than $40 a year. I was surprised they would even after I explained it was in the middle of the timber. Works for me.

That is great I love hearing Dad's getting there kids in the woods. My son has been going on a trip with me every year since he was three and I had to ziptie the harness to make it tight enough were I was comfortable bring him up in the double stand with me. (I got 5 min of quiet that trip, but that trip had nothing to do with killing a deer) We had an awesome time even had papa calling to find out if the bull was behind us or between us and him! The bull was in the tree with me. I had let him hold my grunt call and it was all he could handle he had to blow it and boy did he cut loose on it. Thankfully papa would rather a young boy have a great time with his dad on his first trip up a tree then kill a deer as well.

Very NICE blind but just a thought on the windows is there a set size for blind windows, myself would make them a smaller size

No set size on windows per law, I kinda wish they were a bit bigger to be honest. IIRC they are about 14" tall and 20" wide. I kinda wish I had done 14" wide and 20" tall.

It's an excellant start for something that will be constantly evolving. Picture the advantage of that as opposed to laying on the ground and trying to shoot thru the weeds.
First suggested improvment would be to get permission to ace those small sapplings. By doing so you would vastly improve your shooting window. Otherwise in a few years
you will be writing the spot off.

Snowgetter, I like it. Portable, simple, and effective. I like that Striker even more though. I will be debuting mine this upcoming season, provided my barrel works out. I have faith.

Here's the mobile hunting blind that I'm building. There's a local company near me - Ranch King Blinds,that builds some really nice stuff. Problem is,they mainly sell to the rich folk's,and their prices reflect that. They sell a nice blind on a trailer that I looked at one day,it sells for about $8k,after looking at how it was built,I told them that I could build one better for about $2k. They laughed!

I bought a trailer from a friend,he had several of these that he got at an auction. The tongue is removeable,and it has jacks and outriggers already on it.

I cut the rear & center upright sections of the trailer off,cut it to the correct height,and rewelded it to the front of the frame to support the 6 ft x 7 ft base that I welded out of 2" tubing.

I then welded a frame out of 1 1/2" tubing together,painted the trailer flat black,repacked the wheel bearings,and installed 3/4" plywood for the floor. The door is a 28" unit that I bought from Ranch King Blinds.

Next thing was to put a skin on it. I found a local sheet metal shop that could get me a Mossy Oak brand camo sheet,and so I went with it.

After getting the outer skin on,I went to work on the inside. I used foam sheet insulation 1 1/2" to insulate the walls and roof,and covered the walls with 1/2" SPF plywood.

For windows,there's a local company called Deer View Windows,all they do is make windows for hunting blinds. I went with the flip up style instead of the sliding style.

Looks like you have got a darn nice blind started there. I like the outrigger setup. I had thought about originally going with the 2 wheel trailer style and adding the outriggers, but then I kept saying to myself, "well if I am going to do that then I had better add this, and if I am going that far I better just go ahead and add that," and before too long I was getting big enough that 4 wheels looked better and better. If I had found a trailer like yours I would have gone that way for sure. The extra height will be nice.
