Looking to purchase a short action savage and found a 10fp-sr in 308. The stock is not an accustock, but does seem stiffer than some of the other heavy barrel savage stocks I have looked at. It is a blind magazine, which I prefer. I will switch barrels to a 250 savage and will likely change stocks down the road. Is it more difficult to find a replacement stock for the blind mag? Are accustocks available for this model?

Any thoughts/suggestions on this vs. other short action models. Thanks.

plenty of aftermarket stocks and chassis systems are available for the Model 10 Series in both Blind Mag and DBM configurations. Most have stated that the Accu-stock is only a mild improvement over the standard stock offering and prefer to go to an aftermarket Laminate or synthetic stock.

Depending on the type of stock you are looking for we can guide you to the many different options.

I assume this model would have a small shank barrel?

Yes Sir. The FPSR is a very popular model around here. You'll probably be surprised by te accuracy of the factory barrel.
