A while back when primers were hard to find I picked up 2-100 packs of CCI Br-2 large rifle primers. Today I decided to try them while working up a new load for 165 grain Nosler Partitioners I had 2 ftf's out of the first 20. Is it a fluke or are these to be avoided?

Definitely not normal for those. I've used a bunch and never had one not light.

Thanks for the quick reply. I might have missed.something in the flash hole but doesn't seem real likely. Loaded.up 20 more tonight.have.to see what.they.do for me. Wasn't light strikes that much I'm certain of.

I have never had a CCI primer fail to fire on me....did you have good solid primer strikes?

Yeah solid for sure. I'm thinking the only likely explanation is there was some.lube.that didn't get flushed out. Could have happened while standing in the.loading block after priming. I'll pick up some.wax.since I'm mostly necking.these anyway.

I use Hornady lock and load spray or Dillion spray lube and have never had a problem....but, I only lube 10 pieces of brass at a time and I use a loading block that is only used for lubing operations...and once I size the brass it is hand wiped off and moved to a clean loading block to avoid problems like this.

Did you try firing them a second time? It's possible the primers weren't fully seated and a second strike may set them off.
