I just replaced the scope on my 16 Trophy Hunter.

I could not find a hex wrench in any hardware store or in my own collection that for he screws holding on the scope ring caps. Finally I dug up the warranty kit that came with the rifle and found that it included a proper sized hex wrench. What friggin size is this thing? These screws are too small for a 3 and too large for a 2.5 on the metric scale.

The screws were a bit rusty, and I'm going to replace them when reusing the rings on my 10/22. Anyone know the spec on these screws? I just need size and length - this information was not included with the warranty kit - hopefully I can find replacements that accept a standard metric hex.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/28/jyqutydu.jpg

Anyways, when I removed the screws I found a strange tape lining the inside of the rings, which I peeled off (and then used ballistol to remove the residue). Anyone know what this tape material is? I've not seen it before.

Thanks for the help!

Can't help with the screws, but the tape is there to help hold the scope tight in the rings and protect it from scratches. It's included in some rings from mfr. Its just paper-backed tape in all likelihood.

The screws in mine are not metric. A 7/64" Allen wrench fits perfectly.
Hope that helps.

My "standard" 7/64" Allen wrench fits perfectly.

Sorry but I thought S.A.E. was "standard" in USA not metric?
