338 Lapua Load

I am using the Hornady 285 gr AMAX bullet, and IMR 4831 powder.
When I check the Hornady book it does not list IMR4831
The Hodgdon book does list IMR4831 with a min of 73gr, max of 77.3gr for a 275gr bullet
and a min of 68 and max of 76 for a 300 gr bullet.

So my question is: If I have a 285gr hornady bullet and IMR4831 powder how much powder should I use ?

I am thinking 75 gr of IMR4831 as a starting point which is about the halfway load for the 2 bullets listed.

What do you think ?

Spot on that is how you go about it, that what I do and start off with 75gr, not for nothing that powder is way to fast for that application, the case holds 100gr and you are only using 75gr of 75% of the case that is totally inefficient, you need to fill that case 90% plus with H1000 or Retumbo, or something of the sort.
