I guess before asking all the questions, first I'll ask if I'm in the correct forum. I'm not sure of date of manufacturing, serial# is D571474.

Made in 1980.

Thanks for the B-day Mad Dog. I've seen some U-tubes of one or two firing and saw how when the trigger stays pulled the bolt remains retracted until the trigger is released. Also saw a link about a recall warning from 1982 regarding possible firing while in the safe mode. I emailed Savage, don't know if they'll respond concerning the recall, but figured I'd see how they respond. I think I read something about them having a fire and may have lost most of their prior records from around 1995 and earlier. Was curious if a copy of the owners manual may be found anywhere, so far I've struck out at all my usual spots, and haven't found anything online either. Thanks again!!

Wouldn't know where to find a manual for it.

Those numbers look to be inspectors stamps not date codes.
