Hello there, I am new to this forum and would appreciate some advise.
I have a 116 s 'Bear Hunter' in .338 win mag.
It has the hinged floor plate, bolt release at the btm in front of the trigger guard, and comes with the accustock.
I have found it to be very accurate, however I am looking at replacing the accustock with a tactical stock - better for prone shooting.
I see that Choate makes a tactical stock with the correct action screw spacing of 5.062, model code no. 25-06-14.
I have read all of the forums and it is a bit confusing, some people say it fits, others say it will not.
I emailed Choate and their reply was that they 'don't inlet for that action'.
So what is the story?
Is it only the trigger guard recess in the stock that may need to be made a bit wider?
Or will the recoil lug also not fit (just end up free floating) and the recess in the stock need to be modified so it will?
If this is all I need to do then I will probably go ahead and purchase the stock.
If anyone out there has done this, or knows about it, then I would really appreciate your advise.
