How close is the Model 25 M40 stock to the Model 10 stock? The reason I ask is Numrich sells the M40 (22 hornet?) laminated Monte Carlo style stock new for about $72.05 plus shipping...is there enough meat on this stock to retro fit to a 4.4" Model 10? I really like this style of stock and cannot find it anywhere... anyone own both that could give a comparison? Is there enough meat there to open it up for the 10SA 4.4 action?

This is an original right hand stock for the Savage M40 .22 Hornet bolt action Varmint Hunter rifle. The brown laminated stock features a Monte Carlo comb, wide beavertail forend and a heavy varmint contour barrel channel. Other features include a target grip, rifle pad with spacer and swivel stud holes. The stock is in very good to excellent condition with minor storage wear. Quantities are limited.

It's not even close....the bolt handle cut is way too far ahead.

I have a M40 in 22 K-Hornet and I wouldn't try it. Just not similar enough. I was thinking that Boyds made something similar in the same colors for the M10 for about $100. Might be worth a look?
