112 trigger

I have a savage 112 pre accutrigger and wanted to lighten up the trigger a little bit. I did some research and found out how
to adjust it and did. My only problem is im not a big fan of the wire spring. I saw you can replace the spring steel wire with a smaller diameter but i really dont want to do that. So i was wondering what aftermarket triggers if any did away with the spring wire? It looks like the sss competition trigger does but im not 100%. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Rifle basix sav-2 is the better choice if you want alot of weight adjustment say for target work to hunting.

I have no experience with the SSS trigger but as jonbearman said the Rifle Basix SAV-2 is a good trigger. You might also consider the SAV-1 or a Timmy trigger. One quick question, are you going to use it for hunting or target? If hunting use the SAV-1 or Timmy triggers, if target purchase the SSS or SAV-2. I just polished the sear and trigger and replaced the wire spring with a wire from a fishing lure and got the trigger down to around 2.5 lb. Works fine, is very stable and 2.5 lbs is a lot lighter than one would think, but you already said you don't want to swap wire springs.

Why no love for the wire? The spring wire has proven itself to be a reliable and repeatable system as far as factory triggers go. Just wondering.

Olddave and bootsmcguire after further research and comments above, when i get home i am
going to change the wire out and see how i like it. Buzzbait or spinnerbait wire should work i assume. Any specific diamiter wire i should be looking for guys?

I will be hunting with the 300 win mag but will be long range so wanted a little lighter trigger

IIRC .040" is the preferred diameter.

Well i replaced the wire and got it down to a crisp 3lbs. Thats good enough for what im going to be doing with it. Thanks again for the help this site is so helpful
