Letter suffixes on 340 series

What do the various letter suffixes on the 340 series designate? I've see 340's with the B,C,D & E suffix as well as an A suffix on my Stevens 322.

Uusually means there has been a small modification done to that series. Usually a small unimportant mod like a spring being resized or something.
