300 blackout or 300aac opinions

Hi gang. I 'swore' I was NOT going to buy any more rifles this year, since I bought 1/month for the last 2 years.
However, I recently saw a bolt action .300 AAC (in Wal Mart of all places!)
I shoot an XP-100 in .221 fireball and a rebarrelled Axis in .221 Fireball. So, I have lots of brass, dies etc. This rifle has the barrel thread provision to add a 'suppressor'.
I really have no interest in hunting, so just wonder how you guys like this round.

It 'could' be used on those nasty, mean walking 'suitcases' we have here in Florida. ha ha

The only other caliber I'm interested in is a new upper for my Colt HBAR in 6.5 Grendel........

I love my 16 inch 300 Whisper and my 10.5 inch blackout. If you're making 300 brass, use 223 brass instead of 221 fireball. If you use 221, you'll get a lot of split necks.

IMO the 300 AAC/blackout are pretty useless in a bolt gun....pretty much counter-intuitive to the whole purpose of the deign of the rounds. But then again....who doesn't need another gun? I love my 300 AAC, but it's on an suppressed AR frame...

ill second that, 308 is more versatile

Have a 300 blk also on an AR upper saw that Savage was plying around with this round but has since dropped it from rifle list.
Am bringing it too the Savage Shooters Shoot Out next month.

300 blkout is absolutely genious in an AR platform, but in a bolt gun it basically defeats its purpose and a 308 can do everything it can do but better

Agreed AR blackout with a suppressor.

If your not going to suppress it get a 308

And dont waste your money on a Grendal. They are the worst 6.5 round in history I swear. Go with the 6.5 creedmoor. Dpms makes an upper for the ar10 and I think shilen makes barrels for it.

I've loaded 308 subsonic and 300 black out subsonics both with suppressors and shot
Them side by side and they worked identical, literally couldn't tell the difference! In accuracy and noise. I was thinking about ablack
Out bolt gun to put a suppressor
On I till I realized the 308 works just as Good Subsonic

And a Grendel isn't the best 6.5 round but it is the best long range caliber that will fit in a ar 15 sized reciever

Trailboss with a 165 lazercast lead bullet, start at 10 grains, and bump it down till you don't hear the sonic crack! It's awesome I'm tellin you, and the trailboss is light so it fills the whole case. It's about 1.5 Moa to 150 yards then it drops like a rock. With that flat point lead bullet they hit real hard, and even without a suppressor it sounds like popping a bag of chips. The lead bullet is short and dense so it always stabilizes even at low velocity. With a jacketed bullet you would have to adjust the powder weight though because of the higher friction in the barrel.
