There has been a great and inspiring story going around about the relationship between MSU's star Senior center Adreian Payne and an adorable little 8 year old girl named Lacey Holsworth from St John's MI.
Lacey was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer a couple years ago, and befriended the basketball player when the team went to visit sick kids in a Lansing hospital about a year ago. These two kids were, in a sense, from two different worlds, but managed to nurture a great love for each other while inspiring people all over the country. Lacey was a special guest of the team at many home games and then road tournament games, even being lifted up by Payne to help cut the net down after winning the Big Ten Tournament Championship last month.
Unfortunately, Lacey died this morning.
