Hello again, New guy again. Since I have been following and learning about Savage rifles, I have commonly heard of having the action and bolt "Timed". I am not quite sure what that means or it's benefits. Pardon me I am still in the learning stage, as I have been a remmy man most of my life. Could anyone shine some light on this? Thanks in advance..... 7STW. AIM SMALL, MISS SMALL.

Remmy man eh? You have my sympathy and welcome to this website. Someone will jump in here with a very dtailed explanation soon but basicaly it involves trueing the face of the action so its true and centered on the bolt centerline and recutting the feed ramps for the bolt lugs for a smoother and lighter bolt lift and closing. Fred Moreo of SharpShooteSupply is the genius behind that as well as some other stuff like the fabulous fluting of bolts he developed fixtures for. It also enhances the accuracy a bit. The best $125 you can spend on a Savage is for trueing and timeing.

82boy, Thanks so much for going out of your way to send out those threads and links. I read EVERY one and was very impressed. Especially the first one that was written by Fred that explained the reason and how he has 'Tooled' up to do this process. The more I read and learn about Savage rifles, the more I realize that in many ways they can be made to outshoot far more expensive rifles at a fraction of the cost across the board. I also was not aware that PT&G has aftermarket bolt bodies. Very good info on all those threads. Thanks again for your time spent. Looking forward to sharing other info! AIM SMALL, MISS SMALL 7STW
