Im getting ready to bed one of my non savage rifles and my question is do I bed just the recoil lug area and the rear tang area of the stock or should I just bed the whole action from the recoil lug on back? I have seen many people it do it both ways and I was wondering what the best way to do it is, for optimum accuracy? Thanks in advance

The biggest thing your looking for is bedding from the lug to the rear action screw. I hear remingtons generally bed the tang where savages like it floated.

If you are willing to share what model/brand of rifle you wish to bed, you might get a response from someone here who has bedded the same or the same type of rifle/stock.

It is a Ruger m77 Mark II in 7mm rem mag. Im looking on more info on how to pillar bed it. Im good to go with the glass bedding of the action.

Ernie The Gunsmith web site has good information, but does not cover Ruger, at web site look under Gunsmith, odds & ends. There is info on you tube, for Ruger.
