Hey,

I am new to the site and this is my first time taking on a project like this and I thought I would try and get some insight before I mess anything up too much.

Here's a list I came up with of things I need. Where is the best place to buy all these things? Is there any one stop shop I could get it all?

1. 3 stock screws needed for a savage long action with a wooden stock

2. Pillars possibly that would fit the 3 screws previously mentioned.

3. Timney trigger for a savage 111 long action

4. bedding coumpound? (or is there anything at a local hardware store that could be suitably used?)

The stock I have is for a blind mag. So I am going to have to drill/dremel out the mag well for the detachable mag I have now. Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks for any help,

Matt

First place I would look for parts and bedding material is Midway USA.
As for "how to's" for a yearly subscription here you will have access to all archived articles.

I bought a benchrest stock from Stockade Stocks and it came already pillar bedded and their work was so good I hated to have to dremel it to allow it to be bedded. Even unbedded it shot pretty well. They sent the screws along, correct length.

they do have a good little waiting period, because they making it just for you.

You can use Devcon to bed. It is available from industrial supplier. Use the putty form.

I am leaning towards the Devcon. Heard lots of good stuff about it.

One of my main concerns is how hard is it going to be to dremel out a mag well for the DM. Will it be tough to get the right dimensions?

Send it to Kevin at Stockade and let him put in his AI mag conversion ;D Later,
