Making a long bolt baffle into a short bolt baffle

I built a 6.5 CM on a factory .223 rem action, and the bolt baffle is too long to allow me to feed from the magazine.

I'm not finding the short bolt baffle in stock any where, so I thought I might just be able to machine my long baffle into a short baffle. Has anyone tried this? What length would I need to shorten it too?

Cut it off. How short? You can remove the extension past the lug altogether

Or......you could just grind the fin off and flip it over.

That's what I did (ground the fin off) with mine, although it was so I could use it on an Axis build.

Fred, this is why your the guru and I'm not! I would have never thought to just grind the fin off and flip it over!
