It's been months since I shot my 375 BME (375 RUM improved) and I finally got it out again. In all the time I've had it I really haven't had a chance to shoot at a decent distance but we finally got out to 960 yards yesterday. It took 18.6 MOA (5.5 MIL) to get there with the 350gr SMK at 3100fps. It took about 3 shots to get the wind right because of some unpredictable swirls close to the target (a rock about 14" around). Needless to say, spotting the hits wasn't a problem with those big bullets!

The lesson learned though is that I need a heavier stock for the BME. Shooting that sucker prone from a 12.5# gun gets old pretty quick even with the extremely effective Muscle Brake. You just can't fight the laws of physics and a 350gr bullet at 3100fps over 113gr of powder is going to cause a disturbance in your shoulder!

The guy I went out with made some great wind calls and had both his 300 WSM and his 7mm Rem Mag dialed in in just a few shots too. The 284 Win Striker held it's own, but the 168gr Berger from the 19" barrel was definitely the under dog. It took 31.4 MOA (9.5 MIL) to get there and the wind wind would throw you all over the place.

Andrew, you keep talking about that 375-BME and I am going to have to build one just because. No need for it, but dang that's a bunch of speed for a big bullet like that.

Gotta try one of everything don't ya? I mean anything like this just screams fun (or at least a future shoulder reconstruction) doesn't it?

(Andrew sent me this pic some time ago, I look and drool once in awhile and sharpen my debate skills talking myself out of it).

You should just do it. I spent all that money on the reamer and now it just sits there in a drawer next to my 338/375 Ruger reamer :devilish:. I actually thought about building a Striker in this caliber just so I had an excuse to use the reamer again.

I might shoot this gun more if I weren't down to my last pound of H1000. No other powder worked as well with the 350gr MK. Dumping 113gr of powder at a time does a real number on a 1# can!

Ya know, I get talked into too many barrels and chamberings all on my own, you guys are not helping, LOL.

If you build a 375BME in a Striker, I may just end up on your doorstep begging for a chance to drop that hammer. It might be a good excuse for a broken wrist.
