I have sent SSS an email, but in the mean time can I get a couple of questions answered.

Can a 300 Win Mag .532" bolt head be retrofitted to a short action bolt?

If not, will the .003" difference in the .532" rim of the 300 Win Mag and the .535" bolt head of the WSM series cause a problem?

My understanding is that all Savage magnum sized bolt heads are the same dimensions out front.

You will run into different dimensions on the length of the shaft, two sizes, short action and long action, and two different firing pin hole diameters.

The long action length bolt head shaft can be shortened to work in a short action bolt body but IIRC, it won't work the other way around, using a short action bolt head in a long action bolt body because of firing pin length differences.

I spoke to Lisa the other day at SSS and they are so busy she hasn't gotten to emails in a while. If you call them (they have certain days and times for "free advice" she will talk to you.

They have bolt heads, and if you know exactly what you HAVE, they can fix you up.

A long action bolt head needs to be trimmed .190" on the tail to work in a short action.

I have a 6.5 rem mag, necked down 350 brass. I trimmed a long action mag bolt head for my short action and it works fine.
