I'm building a 260 remington. My current setup on the rifle has a viper pst scope with a non sloped tps base. The scope maxes out at 45 moa of elevation ajustment (up). Total for scope (up/down) is 65. I want to shoot 1200 yards with 140 amax bullets. Will this setup be sufficient to do so? Scope is currently zeroed for a 308 at 100 yards. Would use 100 yd zero on 260. This is assuming the 260 zero will be within a few moa of what the 308 is currently at.

It would be very close, depending on your elevation from 100yd zero with the new barrel - a 20MOA base would likely be necessary.

A 6.5mm 140gr A-Max @ 2820fps (26" velocity) requires roughly 41.75 MOA at 1200yd assuming 100yd zero, Litz G7 BC, 500' elevation and standard atmosphere (59F, 29.92 Hg).

Ok. Thank you. I don't mind replacing the base, just trying to get an idea so I can do it when I take the current base off to rebarrel.

We shoot this out to 1100yds whenever we get a chance, I have full faith to be able to get it to 1300-1400yds when ever I get the ability to try.
