The shipping was fast and the barrel looks really good. The barrel was packed real well and I saved the tube for future use of barrel shipping. I actually started making some round for it even though it's not on an action yet. I made a dummy round with Lapua brass and a Hornady 75 BTHP, and seated the bullet deeper until I was right at the lands. This is good news because it puts that combo's total overall length over the loading data that I have even with a .010 jump. When I can get my hands on some Berger 90 gr. VLDs I'll have to have the throat reamed out some, but that's rather simple. I'm hoping to get it put all together tonight and shoot tomorrow. For now it looks like it'l have a Choate Sniper stock, and 4.27 tactical action, should be a pretty heavy rig which will be nice because I'm trying to get my kids and wife into the FTR competition this year and hopefully the recoil will be manageable for them.

Dan,

I just found the Berger 90's at Bruno's shooters supply...... Got 2 boxes, they still have them in stock I believe. Im going to shoot mine out of a McGowen 22-250.

Let us know how it shoots. It should shoot the heavier bullet very well.

Thank's snowgetter and RyanG, and big thanks to Dennis. Yesterday I shot 2 rounds at 50 yards, then 6 shots at 100 yards all sub minute. Today I cleaned the barrel with sweets 7.62 using a bore guide and nylon brush. had one tiny speck of blue is all. when all done cleaning I ran lock ease through the bore waited a few minutes and ran a loose dry patch through it. Loaded 23 grains of Varget in new Lapua brass cci 400 and the 75 gr Hornady bthp. First shot was a 3/4" high, second a little lower and then 8 rounds in a hole about 1/2" at 100 yards. It was also very windy, the gyroscopic forces on the bullet from the fast twist barrel contributes high bullet rpm which makes it harder for the wind to push the bullet off path.lol. I can't wait to see what it can do on a calm day. The Choate ultimate sniper stock takes some getting used too, I'm just borrowing the stock and bipod from my friend for now and it seems like a pretty solid stock, forearm of the Choate has more flex than my B&C tactical stock though.
I'll try to get up some pictures of the rifle and targets.
Regards,
Dan

I forgot to mention that I've been experimenting with a homemade cleaning solution. I have made 2 different samples so far and they work great. I use 3 ingredients for sample #1, 70% full Synthetic ATF, 20% 5w30 25,000 mile Amsoil and 10% Kroil. It works great when left in the barrel over night, the powder fouling pushes out with a patch easily.
The second sample is just 50/50 Amsoil and ATF, works better for lightly lubing and rust protection.

The scope is a Weaver 6-24X mil dot FFP, I'm not real fond of it because the cross hair seems to be real thick when your zoomed in and the eye relief is like 1 inch at 24X. With the black square I made and the scope on 18X at 100 yards I could hold center mass pretty well.

This is the 10 shot group from yesterday, which is really good for no load work. It shoots like a 22LR you can see a little smoke blast come out the end of the barrel and keep right on target.
