Hey guys, I recently picked up my second Savage 99 and this one is a 99F made in 1957. It is missing the grip plate, so I ordered one from Numrich gun parts and when I got it in, I realized that the plastic grip plate was too large for my stock and used only one screw to mount it to the stock and my stock appears to use 2 screws to mount it. Here is a picture.

Can anybody tell me if they have seen this before? I have searched and searched for a grip plate that would mount here but have been unsuccessful. Thanks so much.

The two outer holes which look like they have been filled or something are for the 2 dimples that are on the back of the grip caps...caps from numrichs can be ground down to fit

Ok, thanks. Also forgot to mention that the center hole where the screw goes into the stock is too large for the screw that I ordered with the grip plate. I guess it's a possibility that someone drilled that out or something?

I think Numrichs doesn't measure their grip caps, they just take it off a Savage 99 and throw it in a bin that says "99 grip caps" on it.

You probably got one off a 99R which were larger.

I think if you sent it back and gave them the measurements of the one you need they could hook you up with a correct one.

I've got plenty of R's here and an EG but I don't have an F to give you a correct size.

The two small holes correlate with dimples on the back of the grip cap that keep it from spinning on the single screw. If the screw hole is too big, glue a wood plug in it an redrill. Try these guys for grip caps.
