I just drilled 3/4" holes in a firring strip and mounted it horizontally off a shelf.

Only if you are shooting ferrous bullets.

Actually, copper does have magnetic principals.

That's not copper pipe....it's bronze. Bronze is an alloy of copper and iron.

Any automotive machine shop can demagnetize a barrel with their crankshaft magnaflux hoop.

Depends on which direction your shooting. If shooting east or west then the barrel will bend one way or the other. If Shooting North or South it will bend backwards or straighten out. To Demagnetize it just hit it on an old iron radiator or anvil. May take several hit to get it done. Be persistent!

SS is low carbon. Not magnetic
