I bought a brand new 93R17 FVSS a couple of weeks ago. Today I finally found some time for the rifle and had plans of mounting the scope but I can not get the bolt into the rifle. I have read the instructions and rotated the bolt wrt handle and it seems to continually hang up at the end of its stroke. Any help is appreciated. I hate to go back to the gun dealer tomorrow and look like the horse's arse. I have never experienced this level of difficulty in installing a bolt. Thanks.

Are you holding back on the trigger when you are inserting the bolt into the gun?

Yes, it seems to go partly in and hang up on black metal tangs.

The front half of the bolt will turn independently from the back half, make sure the front half is going into the receiver level, with the flat part down, turn the bolt to make it all match up.

That's the approach that I have tried for a couple of hours without success. Do these rifles normally get shipped with the bolt installed? It seems as if the black tangs (bolt guides?) may be bent.

both should be flush with the outside edge of the bolt

The rifles ship with the bolt out. What are the "Black tangs" that your talking about?

they go into the slots that are on the left and right sides of the chamber they protrude from the front of the bolt face

That is the extractors, they pull the case out of the chamber.

The black tangs I am referring to appear to be stops for the clip magazine. This appears to be what the bolt is hanging up on.

It is also possible your ejector could be bent, would not be the first time.

Thanks guys. I returned to gun shop and the ejectors had to be tweaked. Not really what I expect from a new rifle but hopefully everything is fine. I'm looking forward to breaking her in this weekend.
