Hello all,

This is my first post and sorry to say it's a question on a possible issue.
I just purchased a Trophy Hunter XP, 30-06. I also picked up some 165gr Fusion. Right away I noticed that the lead seems to mushroom out of the tip on most rounds. Not noticeable at a glance but defintely inconsistant. Is this a bad batch or just not something that effects flight.

thanks,
Andy

i like sierra game kings and they are the same way, still shoot great, shouldnt be an issue.Just maybe not match grade accuracy, doubt you will be able to tell the difference. i rarely use facotry ammo, but Fusion is pretty good and accurate factory ammo btw

Minor deformities of the bullet tip do not seem to affect accuracy. 150 gr Fusion shoot great in my 270.

Several years back, Handloader Magazine did an article on bullet deformities, where they "mangled" bullet tips in any way you could imagine, and, surprisingly, it had almost no detectable affect on the bullets accuracy or impact. However, any damage at all to the bullet "base" DID cause it to veer off course dramatically. But I'll bet that premise is a hard sell to those guys that "trim meplats"? ;-)

Good Luck-Good Shooting.......Jim

Thanks for the info. I'll get to the range in the next week or so and post some results then.

I had great results with the hornady american white tail in 30-06... Very consistant
