I'm looking at replacing the barrel on my 12FV with a new 24" sporter weight barrel with a 1:14 twist. What is the heaviest weight bullet that will work in this barrel?

I'm thinking somewhere around 55 or 60 gr.

I agree with Charlie. Might get some 60's to work if you dont load them too hot.

Is this a brand new factory barrel? I thought they now only came in 9 and 12 twist.

If you wanna shoot higher than 60gr bullets i'd go with atleast a 9 twist

I re barreled my LRPV 22-250 with a 1-12 twist to a 1-9 twist and now I can shoot the 60's . It is now my most accurate round.I have the 70's VLD Bergers but have not tried them yet.I could not shoot the 60's with my 1-12 as some times they would not even hit the paper And that was weird . I am waiting on a Shelin 1-8 and I am told I can shoot 75 A-Max no problem. I will report back when that happens.Cant wait. lol

in my 1:12 twist i got the 60 gr. v-max bullets to shoot .5 moa. loaded some with varget and h380. h380 .005 off the lands proved to be the most accurate. i'm not sure exact charge weight but they chrono'd at 3300 - 3400 fps with h380. i think it was 33.6 but check in a manual before using my data.
