So I have a .223
It shoots really good, however I shoot only 40 and 55 grain bullets.
My 40's set over .100 of the lands, which means the bullet is nearly out of the case
before it hits the lands.
Can my Chamber be recut with a shorter throat ?

Yes, but it would be a lot easier to just shoot larger bullets.

Larger bullets go to slow and do not make good Red Mist out of Squirrels ;D
Also they make a big hole in a Yote pelt

Try some 36GR Barnes Varmint Grenades, light bullets but they are sized like a 52-55gr bullet.

You would have to set the barrel back and ream it.

Change your bullet selection in both instances then.

A 55 gr in varying flavors of bullets has more energy and less drop/wind drift than 40's.

Thats what I was looking for, I want to Taylor my Chamber for my Handloads.
I don't have a lathe, so I will have to send this out, who should I send it to ?
Thanks

i think sinarms does it. i think he charges 75.00 + shipping? have kicked this around my self? not sure what iam going to do. wait why don't you do it first to see what happens? lol!!!! ;D iam most likely going to do it. 75 bucks or new barrel? 75 bucks or new barrel? i think 75bucks. my thing is i need it to fit the mag because i use it as a coyote rifle. let us know how it turns out and i will do the same when i get mine done. also i have a couple of 22-250 barrels that have the same problem. we see how the .223 turns out?? 8) dd

If I can get it done under $100 I'm doing it.
My Rifle is a Coyote/Squirrel Buster only, I never shoot or have the desire to shoot
larger bullets than 55gr.
Most of the time I only shoot 40gr. V-Max
It might be awhile before I do this, as I have just spent a Ton of money on my Weapons habit.
