From our friend Jim K.

Competitors,

Coming up on the fifth Saturday of March, Pensacola Rifle and Pistol Club will be hosting a sanctioned CMP Games.

Four categories will be present this year: Springfield, Vintage, M1 and Modern Military. A brief description of each class is in the attached flyer, so think about what “else” you might bring.

When I send out the request for firing point email the week before the match, I’ll also be looking for how many matches (re-entry/different rifles) you would like to fire in succession.

Thanks! Hope to see you at Blakely next week!

CMP Games Return to Pensacola Rifl e and Pistol Club
29 March 2014

For a second year, PRPC will be hosting a sanctioned Civilian Marksmanship Program Games
Event. CMP Games are recreational shooting events that encourage us to use WWI bolt
actions right through to today’s semi-auto rifl es in a 30 round course of fi re.
Th e course of fi re all takes place on PRPC’s 200 yard rifl e range. No special equipment is
required, just rifl e and ammo. A small stool, mat to lay on and spotting scope are helpful.

Empty Chamber Indicators (ECI) are required by CMP, loaners will be available.
Competition in this match is the shooter and rifl e vs. the target. Gold, silver, or bronze awards
are given to everyone who achieves scores as set by the CMP. Participants may fi re in every
category listed below and Re-Entry is allowed to give it another try with the same rifl e.

Th e John C. Garand (JCG) includes all as-issued M1s caliber 3006 and “Unlimited Garands”
can be match accurized and caliber .308. A 30 caliber M1941 Johnson Rifl e may also be fi red.

Th e Springfi eld Match includes as-issued M1903 (except “low serial number”) and 1903-A3
rifl es, US Model 1917 and .30-40 Krag rifl es.

Th e Vintage Military Rifl es include as-issued rifl es used by Armed Forces of a country other
than the US, bolt action operated, with standard sights and original chambering. US type
slings may be used.

Th e Modern Military Rifl es include Class A: rifl es based on the M16/AR design that are
built in the USA with no special accurizing and must be chambered in .223/5.56 caliber.
Class B: US and foreign semi-automatic military rifl es with no special accurizing with caliber
no larger than 8mm. (Class B examples are M14/M1A, AK 47/74, SKS, FN-FAL, SVT)
Optics may be used in the Modern Military Category, will have their own category vs. iron
sights and must remain on the rifl e for all 3 stages. Collapsible stocks are allowed but must
stay in the same position for all stages.

CMP Games As-Issued Rifl e Course of Fire (35 shots at 200 yards)
Sighting 5 rounds, slow fi re 5 minute time limit
Prone 10 rounds, slow fi re 10 minutes
Prone (from Standing*) 10 rounds, rapid fi re 80 seconds
Standing 10 rounds, slow fi re 10 minutes
*If you are unable to stand before the stage, provisions can be made to stay in position.

Rapid fi re requires a reload, 2 and 8 for a semi-auto, 5 and 5 for a bolt action.
Slow fi re is loaded one at a time, not from the magazine.
Rifl e slings are not required, but can be helpful if used in an
arm loop confi guration for support in prone. During standing,
the sling may be attached, but not be used for support.
When they are used, it must be the M1907 leather or M1 web
sling (without pads or cuff s). Foreign rifl es may use the original
sling or the American type military slings.

Takes about 1.5 hours per relay and we’ll run the relays until
everyone is fi nished! Early relay and fi ring point assignments
will be given on a fi rst come fi rst serve basis via reply to the
email announcement the week before the match. If you know
how many rifl es/re-entries you would like to fi re, let me know in the email. Walk-ons are welcome and will
be assigned fi ring points as space becomes available.

Th e Games begin March 29 at 9am, with check in for fi rst relay no later than 8:45am. Cost is $10 per game
relay fi red. A new relay will begin approximately every 1.5 hours. CMP requires a one time notarized affi davit
of eligibility. If you have fi lled out one of these forms in the past, you are good to go.
