I have a model 2400 in .222/12ga. The stock was pretty badly cracked in the wrist when I acquired it. I repaired it by inleting some some pieces of cherry. So far after 2 years of shooting, problems. That said, I would like to get a spare stock for it. Does anyone have a line on where I could find one of these?

Tough one, Savage only had them offered for a few years so parts are few and far between.

You could search for a Valmet stock as well seeing as how that was who made the guns for Savage, maybe a Lion stock would fit.

Actually I tried a Valmet 412 stock. The 412 is the gun the 2400 is roughly based on. Unfortunately Savage has the 2400's made enough differently from the Valmet 412's that the parts do not interchange.

I believe a Savage/Valmet 330 stock will fit, although it has different checkering and dimensions at the comb. But even those are pretty hard to come by.

If I were you, and liked that 2400 as much as I do my two, I'd have a custom stocker duplicate the stock you have, using your repaired stock for a pattern. Some of the stockers have a pantograph cutter that can do that automatically, and then they do a final fit and finish the stock from that. You get to choose the wood.

If you run across wood for a 12 guage Savage/Valmet 333 in your search, by the way, let me know. I've been looking for two years now......
