n133 VERY FAST in my .223 !!

Has any one shot any n133 out of their .223 ? I was shooting through my chrony yesterday to test my varget load that gives me fits when it is cold out. By the time I started shooting it warmed up to almost 50 degrees, so that experiment didn't work out the way I had planned.
Back to the n133. Since the chrony was set up I went and shot my 40 gr. noslers under 26.0gr of n133 through it. Also win brass and br4 primers. Boy what a surprise I got. 5 shots averaged 3933 fps !
The primers looked good after fireing.The load is .1 gr over max in the viht. reloading manual. Be sure to start much lower if you decide to try some. I would like to hear if anyone else experienced the same results with n133.

I just bought a pound yesterday to try in my 20 Practical. From what I've been seeing on the web, it's a great powder for speed and accuracy.

N-133 is a GREAT powder for a 223!

It will have a much faster burn rate than Varget. Heard reports of IMR 8208XBR doing well in 223 as well. I know in the PPC world, 8208 is looking to shake N133 from its top position, and looking to be a big replacement. I like H335 and H322 in 223 also.

I would double check your chony. I've never heard or seen anybody get that kinda speed from a 40 gr. bullet from a .223. But, if it shoots good I wouldn't worry about the speed. I get excellent accuracy from N-133 with 52 gr. bullets from my LRPV.

I am quite certain that the N133 load was chronied ok because I shot it between 2 other loads that chronied out to be right were they always are. It seems to be around 300 ft/ sec faster than book. My varget load of 23.7gr, lapua brass, fed match primer with 75 gr amaxes chrony at 2870 average. I believe that is on the fast side also. The only thing I can figure is that my factory barrel is a fast one.
Yes, I have had some great shooting loads with n133 and n135.

I shot a lot of N133 out of my .223 and got similar results using 50 gr NBT's. I don't remember the load off the top of my head but it was N133 and Remington 7 1/2's. The groups averaged .44 for 5 shots @ 100 yds. It was pretty hard on brass but had great speed and accuracy.

I think your velocity for the 75 A-Max load is high, either a fast barrel like you say, or a fast chrony. Have you tried anyone else's rifle over that chrony?

If you have a Chrony brand--was the chrony opened all of the way up? If not fully open, I've heard the sensors are closer together & can give a fast reading.

Other thought would be military brass? Smaller capacity, higher pressure? Don't see that as enough to get you that much addl velocity, but I thought I'd put it out there. Doubtful, because you mention Lapua brass on your varget load, but you never know.

My buddy shot his 6 br over my chrony and it seemed to be close to book. I have shot 60 gr vmax's also. I'll have to try to dig up the data and see if they were fast also.

It is a chrony brand , and it was opened up the correct way. Also the N133 load was winchester brass ( I think I mentioned that above). There was actually a little more room for powder, if I recall.

Well, I pulled out some of my data and my barell must be on the fast side :D. 2 years ago I had shot 60 gr v-max's over my chrony and they averaged 3243 fps. That was lapua brass, fed 205m primer,and 24.5 gr. of N135. The book is showing 3202 fps for 25.8 grs of powder. That is 1.3 grs less and the rifle was still faster than the books max load.

With such strange readings from your Chrony, I'll second the suggestion to compare it with a different chronograph. All of the velocities you've listed seem high.
