I picked up the Savage 63 from my ffl today. It needs a reblue and I plan on refinishing the stock on it. Some surface rust and pitting, but nothing real deep that cant be taken out with fine steel wool. Does anyone else here have one of these? I was told they are the same as the 73 series and will accept the 73 parts, but I really like the mannlicher stock and have been planning on doing a 110 mannlicher for some time. The front sight is a band ramp with hood and has a tension screw on the band and attaches to the stock near the end. Stock has some dings and dents, but they should all steam out. Prbably won't shoot it until the weekend, but was thinking about putting some of the tubbs polishing bullets through it in case there is rust down the tube.

I just picked this one up a while ago. So far I love the feel of it. I had to get a new extractor, but its good now!

did you refinish the stock on it? I like the coloring of it a lot more than the one I have. The only thing I found was missing was the rear sight elevator, but I'm sure I can pick one up from midway that will fit it. I also found the williams fp target sight for the anschutz will fit the dovetail. I'm ordering one to see if I like it.

how well does yours shoot? My trigger feels really heavy, havent checked it for poundage, but I'm guessing 6+.

I haven't done anything to it accept for replace the extractor. Mine is also missing the rear sight elevator. The scope that is on it came on it when I bought it at the pawn shop, its not real nice. I haven't had it too long, maybe 2 months. After I got the extractor, all I have done is to make sure it still shoots and extracts. I think I will try and find an elevator for the sights and shoot it with the opens. The trigger on mine is a little heavy, maybe 5 pounds, but it is quite crisp for a low dollar rifle. Im a sucker for the full stock. I need to get more rifles with one. My uncle has an Anschutz 54 in in 22 hornet with the full stock, and I have loved it since I was a boy. This is a far cry from the annie, but its a start!!

I also have a Savage 63. Does anyone know how to find a receiver for it. I have looked everywhere.

I ordered an extractor from Numrich that worked. The smith that had the gun for 8 months said that the firing pin was broken though. Strange because I shot it up to the point of taking it to them. Does that make sense? This has been in our family since it was new.

Have any of you replaced the firing pin on the 63. I was warned not to take it apart unless I was prepared for an embarrassing trip to another smith.
