300aac blk light bullet loads

Got a new barrel yesterday, 16.5" 8 twist 300blk. Can't decide which action to screw it on, the rifle or the striker.
Found plenty of brass premade from a vendor, need headspace tools to get started. Recoil should be mild for either frame.
Planning to have the smith turn down a thread protector to take a barrel band front sight, or may reduce the dia to a straight no taper.

Anyone shooting lighter grain bullets on theirs? What would you recommend?

Were did you get the barrel from been thinking same thing, have an upper in 300 aac for my AR have Sierra 125 gr bullets lightest to 175 hpbt as heaviest and thinking hard on a can for both the AR and rifle.

Got it from a member on 300 blacktalk site in classifieds. He had 4 last week, two are gone. This one is a Simarms barrel, Devin makes good stuff. Price was right too. There was one other available from a different ad. Get all my .223, .221fb, and 300blk brass once fired lake city from there, grumpa in AZ. I need a set of head space gauges.

The barrel really fits the rifle stock well.
