I'm looking to buy a Savage LRPV single shot, dual port in 6BR with the 1-12 twist barrel (sku #18622). The local shops don't have them in stock and their special order prices are not very attractive so I'm turning to mail order buying options. However, my initial search has not been very fruitful. The best I've been able to do so far is $970 plus $15 shipping from Gun Broker. Can you guys offer up any dealers that have good prices on Savage long guns?

Give Jim a call at Northland Shooters Supply, I am sure he can help you out. He is also a site supporter and his ad is on here.

$970.00 for that rifle is not bad. What were you expecting to pay for it? I have rarely seen any of that series for too much less than that and usually a little over $1K as a rule.

Maybe that is the best I will be able to do, but I've rarely, if ever, found the lowest prices on gun broker. That's the only reason I thought I would be able to find a better price....again, maybe not.

Before you buy a factory rifle take a look at the one Kevin Rayhill built for me. He may be able to build one for you for close to a grand and if you are lucky like I was it will be benchrest competitive. Mine has shot a .084" 5 shot group at 100 yds and many in the .1s + .2s + .3s. It also has shot a couple 5 shot groups at 200 yds in the low .3s. Read carefully what I did and what I should have done to get the same rifle for a lot less.

This past weekend I shot a 3 shot group to see what the drop would be at 300 yds and it measured 1+1/2". No wind at all. I got lucky because I haven't mastered wind.

Joesph, thanks for the post and the links....very interesting read and a fine looking and shooting rig you have there. My only issue is I shoot in the Factory Stock class so your rig would not be legal for me. That's why I'm looking at the LRPV single shot dual port in 6br. This rig fits into our FS rules.

OOPS, Didn't know you wanted factory class. You are making a great rifle choice then. 6mm Norma BR is an excellent choice also.
