What needs to be done to screw on a new barrel to get the sights to line up?

Unless you have a pile of bolt heads to swap around until you find one that will allow you to do it; your only other recourse that I can think of is to have the breach face turned and the chamber recut to get it to time correctly.

Have you tried it yet ? How far off is it ?

Haven't tried it yet. I have a large shank action that I'm trying to figure out what to do with since it doesn't seem to be selling. I can get a Savage ml2 .50 stainless new take off for $125 but I know they have open sights. That's why I ask, just to see if its a possibility.

See if he'll sell you the bolt head along with it, that will solve your dilemma.

The 10ML II doesn't have a bolt head like a centerfire. If you don't have the bolt, the barrel won't do you much good if your looking for an easy swap. Check out Dougs Message Board, everything you want to know about the 10 ML is there.

Thanks David. I am a member over on dougs as well. Last year I converted a Stevens 200 to a .45 smokeless ml. I will need another 209 bolt head but its doable to convert this one over as well.
