I just bought myself a Sevens 200 in 7mm RM. Later this year, I will also be buying a Savage 110 FCP in .338 LM with the HS Precision stock. Eventually I plan on buying an XLR chassis for the Savage .338LM which means I will have an HS Precision stock kicking around.

Is it possible to swap the HS Precision stock from my Savage .338LM rifle over to the Stevens 7mm RM rifle? My understanding is they both have the same long action, I'm just not sure if the difference in cartridge lengths will be a problem. Also, would the .338 magazine work with the 7mm action and feed 7mm rounds properly?

Thanks in advance!

Any ideas?

Shouldn't be an issue. Since the 338 Detachable Box Mag is longer it should handle the 7mm RM cartridge OK. Worse case I can see is you might have to purchase the bottom metal and magazine for the 300 Win Mag set up.

I do believe that the bottom metal will be different. You could always sell the stock on Ebay, gunbroker, it there classifieds and make around $200 for it

It will be different but the bolt spacing is the same so the 300 Win Mag bottom metal should bolt right up. Unless there's something I'm overlooking?

You should not run into any real issues.

I'm fine with swapping the bottom metal If that's all is going to take to make it work. Any particular reason I want to look for 300WM instead of 7mm RM metal?
