Went back to the range today with a Nikon Prostaff 3x9 scope.Had it bore sighted and wasn't hitting the paper.A member from here gave me a tip.I took the bolt out to see where the barrel was pointing compared to the scope. But I got it on paper and dialed it in fairly well. Its a good start anyways.I guess it pays to dial it in or check for yourself to see how accurate it is.I also bought a small gunsmith tool set.I haven't shot in twelve years and really enjoying myself.I never tried to adjust a scope before either.Always made me nervous. But when your a foot off to the left, what do you have to worry about.http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y479/Idahokid161/WP_20140125_0021_zps412eee93.jpg (http://s1276.photobucket.com/user/Idahokid161/media/WP_20140125_0021_zps412eee93.jpg.html)http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y479/Idahokid161/WP_20140125_0011_zps40539755.jpg (http://s1276.photobucket.com/user/Idahokid161/media/WP_20140125_0011_zps40539755.jpg.html)http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y479/Idahokid161/WP_20140125_0031_zpsd138796a.jpg (http://s1276.photobucket.com/user/Idahokid161/media/WP_20140125_0031_zpsd138796a.jpg.html)The last four shots made me feel like I was getting the hang of it.My fear of messing with a scope is no longer an issue.I will get a little closer to center in a few weeks.Bullets aren't cheap. But part of the deal.:becky:

Yep...
Won't be long now.
We'll be seeing him on the Ammo & Reload thread looking for press & die input.

Stay with it Kid. After a few million rounds & 2 or3 scope change outs & it'll be second nature to ya. Welcome to your new addiction. Next will be reloading OCD in which case we hope to see you at the meetings. I hear we have a Chaplin coming in speak about the "evils of powder & bullet hoarding" next week...

PS - when trying out a new scope that is bore sighted or laser sighted, sometimes it makes life a little easier (and less ammo used) if you have someone stand behind you & watch the splash from the first shot. Then start dialing / adjusting as needed.
Just a quick tip from yer 'ol Uncle Frank...

Hang in there. Its just like riding a bike. You never forget how.... Sort of.
Getting back into it, eh? Kinda like running into an old flame that made your life absolutely miserable.
But you loved every minute of it.

Nice looking rig, by the way.
Good luck with it.

I think he said it's a 7mm Rem Mag as couple weeks ago. The rounds in the first photo look a little mag-ish.

Reloading is the easier of the obsessions with these things. Wait till you figure out you can change calibers.....

Now there's a man that knows.
Spoken like a tried & true Savage barrel swapper, reloader & shooter.

No worries, Kid...
Were all in it together.
Welcome to the war.

Lookin good. Nice shooting rest too. 50 plus years of shooting you'd a thunk I would have bought/made one by now. I will, like golf I'm just waiting till I get old to do a few things.

It is a 7mm Mag.I sold a Remington 710 to fund this one.I went to Cabelas yesterday and there was a Axis in camo in 30-06/I had to get out of there.lol.I wanted one rifle that does it all.Might entertain a .270 down the road.

nice rifle!
Its an awesum addiction. Especially when you start loading your own.
Recently went shopping for 22 ammo and found some at Dicks sp. I took a look at the prices on there big bore rifle ammo and my jaw dropped.
Id rather spend my money on over priced components and keep rolling my own.
